Equality For Growth (EFG) carried out a survey involving 130 women engaged in business in the Temeke, Kinondoni and Ilala districts of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, in order to gain a better understanding of their business operations. EFG sought to understand the female entrepreneurs' views on, and assess their level of knowledge of the legal framework which impacts on their businesses, in particular, with regard to governmental, social, and economic policies.
Summary of results
Based on the results of the survey, Equality For Growth proposes the following actions:
1. Strengthen participation in female entrepreneur associations
2. Increase access to legal advice and education
3. Increase business-related training
4. Empower female entrepreneurs to undertake advocacy
5. Improve knowledge of women's rights
6. Facilitate land ownership
7. Improve ease of business set-up and running
